What To Expect
Your appointment will typically take 45 minutes to 1 hour.
You will meet with a therapist who may discuss the following with you:
- your medical history, including current medications, tests or procedures
- your current problems/concerns
- how your condition impacts your activities – work, recreational, leisure
- your goals for therapy
- if you need a splint/orthosis, it may be provided or custom made on your first visit
The therapist will conduct an objective evaluation which may include motion testing, strength testing, palpation (touching the injured and/or surrounding areas), special tests, postural assessment, and screening for associated conditions.
The information gained allows us to tailor a treatment program to address your specific limitations. Your treatment program may include range of motion exercises, stretches, desensitization, edema control, manual techniques, and strengthening. A home program will be developed based on your needs and abilities to assist maximizing your recovery.
